Guanajuato, Gto., February 8, 2016.- With the commitment to use the resources the University of Guanajuato (UG) has to contribute to the formation of a more just and respectful society for diversity, at the House of Studies was installed the Institutional Committee of Equity and Gender, integrated by directors, professors, students and union representatives of the university community.

In the installment session, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, expressed that for the institution is fundamental that the topic of gender violence is not assumed as an object of study, but that the academic work derives in generating policies, protocols and guidelines of practical applications.

It is a priority to generate a culture regarding the topic of gender equity, and the University of Guanajuato seeks to provide society all the resources available such as academic studies, institutional diagnosis and interinstitutional work networks.

As a starting point, they planned six work axis: institutional instruments for the prevention and treatment of gender violence, institutional link, diffusion and socialization; training, information and institutional diagnosis; studies and academic collaboration.

Twelve members compose the Committee of Equity and Gender (directors, professors and students from the four campuses and high school), as well as representatives from both union associations of the institution.

In addition, it will have the support of the General Secretary, the Direction of Human Resources, University Controllership and the University Prosecutor of Academic Rights, among others administrative instances.

At the session held at the Council Hall, were also defined the work teams that will be in charge of developing each one of the proposed axis, and set a date for the follow up meeting, that is going to be happening next February 22nd.
