Salamanca, Gto. February 9, 2016.- In the Division of Engineering from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca from the University of Guanajuato, it was inaugurated the "Simposio en Energías Renovables y Ciencias Térmicas" (Symposium in Renewable energies and Thermal Science) with the participation of researchers from Italy, United States and Mexico.

In Salamanca, more than 200 students from 12 educational institutions gathered to hear the speakers and participate in a poster presentation with research projects that are related to this topic.

The guests were Dr. John Lienhard IV, emeritus professor of Houston University; Dr. Enrico Sciubba of the University of Sapienza of Rome; Dr. John Lienhard Jr., of MIT; Dr. Gregg Kowalski of Northeastern University (Boston, US); Dr. Eduardo Ramos from the Institute of Electrical Research and Dr. José Luis Fernández Zayas of the "Universidad Autónoma de México".

Facing the upcoming energetic crisis, experts also participated in the panel "Mitos y realidades de las energías renovables" (Myths and realities from renewable energies), an event of the Mechanical Engineer program, organized by professors and organized groups from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), by the Mexican Society of Mechanical Engineers (SOMIM) and the group PI TAU SIGMA.

During the opening ceremony, Director of the Division of Engineering, Dr. Roberto Rojas Laguna, recognized the effort of the organizers and the students because this activity adds to the students' formation within the framework of the new educational model. He recognized the great quality of the presented posters and exhorted them to continue taking links with other visitor institutions.

In representation of the municipal mayor Antonio Arredondo, Lic. Esteban Martínez Hernández, General Director of Education, Culture and Sports, pointed out that Salamanca needs youth with energy, engaged with their city and their environment.

The opening ceremony was presided by the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Ernesto Camarena Aguilar; Lic. Esteban Martínez Hernández, Campus' Academic Secretary, Dr. Oscar Ibarra Manzano; Dr. John Lienhard IV, emeritus professor of Houston University and ASME member; Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Elias Ledesma Orozco, as well as Dr. Abel Hernández Guerrero, professor and member of the organizing committee.
