
Guanajuato, Gto., February 9, 2016.- Convinced that changes must forge beneficial changes in society and our environment, Montserrat Barajas –graduate from the Sociology degree from the University of Guanajuato UG)—works in an employability system directed to youth in a vulnerable situation.
The graduate implements the acquired knowledge during her college studies working in the "Fundación Internacional de la Juventud" (International Foundation of Youth), which makes diverse activities in more than 100 countries. Among their programs there, is one called "Youth Work", same that has replicated in Mexico with the name "Órale".
In an interview, Montserrat Barajas explained that "Órale" is an employability youth program that supports the youth in vulnerable situations, meaning, that for several social factors, they do not work and do not study. This initiative is directed to people of 16 to 28 years old with middle school completed and who want to be better, so we offer them training allowing them to develop their abilities.
"Órale" was done for the first time in Cd. Juárez, Mexico with the purpose to eradicate violence and try to keep the youth from negative actions. "In Ciudad Juarez, the success of the program was clear, because more than 10 generations and a great quantity of youth were inserted to the job and the academic world", mentioned the graduate.
In the city of Leon, the employability youth program is being done for 8 months, since Leon is the second city in a national level with a great number of unoccupied youth, "by having these statistic is very important for us to implement programs that allow to locate young people in the productive area", she said.
It is precise to mention that "Órale" has the financial resources from "TK Foundation", this makes the youth who belongs to the program can be trained through workshops and dynamics that execute four daily hours from Monday to Friday through 27 sessions, in which a facilitator, a council person and a mentor. At the end, they make the participant have a graduation as a symbolic act for their effort.
The youth comes out of the program distinguishing and developing their own skills, make a study of their strengths, write their curriculum and are prepared with the necessary tools to defy the world.
The graduate of the University of Guanajuato assured that there are diverse actions we can make to construct a better future in our country and "Órale" is one of those.
