
Salamanca, Gto., February 16, 2016.- The Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca (DICIS) from the University of Guanajuato, opened its doors to 120 elementary students to show them with multiple activities, what is the climate change and the effects on the planet.
As part of the program 4-H, a program that encourages values that apply in more than 50 countries in the world, Campus Irapuato-Salamanca in coordination with the city of Salamanca, invited students from the Education Center "Mapi" to participate.
4-H is a youth organization from United States run by the American Department of Agriculture. The four H refers to head, heart, hands and health, elements they put into service for others. Their goal is to incorporate to this social-educational movement, 25 million children and youth in the world by 2025.
After arriving DICIS, the guests were received by the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Ernesto Camarena Aguilar; by the Director of the Division of Engineering. Dr. Roberto Rojas Laguna, by the UG professor and active collaborator of 4-H. Dr. Manuel Collado Marié, as well as personnel of the Coordination of Extension and Link from Campus.
After honoring the flag and taking the 4-H program's oath, the children participated in several interactive games and then went to the auditorium where they projected a video to reinforce the values.
Later they went into Division's widest place, where Dr. Jaquelina González Castañeda and a group of students from the Division of Life Sciences, prepared cultures of photosynthetic microorganisms that the little ones could observe through microscopes. The visit concluded with a pot recycling activity, in which the guests planted seeds and learned how vegetation helps the environment when facing the climate change that is being perceived.
For the last 110 years, the Social-Educative Movement for youth 4-H, has had an important role as director of the social and national development in the agricultural and rural development areas in nearly 70 countries and has evolved as a global movement that generates value in the agriculture, the environment and the improvement of the quality of life.
