The event occurred at UG's Gallery "Hermenegildo Bustos", the place in which the writer expresses his passion for music, hence, the described the activations that develop in the brain zones of the human beings, which produce intense emotions.

At the beginning, he commented that the music little by little became an artistic discipline that captures and attracts, therefore, he set on trying to understand the brain mechanisms that make music touch us, move us, and stir us in a way near the irrational.

To exemplify his special enthusiasm for music, Jorge Volpi explained that, in some way, he has linked his literary career and assured "the music occupies a privileged place in each one of my novels, plan my narrations with a musical structure, I seek to compose books as someone who composes opera, chamber music and symphonies".

From an early age –and because his father was a music enthusiast trying to influence this taste to his children--, the life of the writer was and still is linked to music, the reason of his interest to discover what goes on in the brain while we listen to our favorite songs.

He highlighted that music is defined in many ways by several theorists, critics and scientists, one of these is described as the science of sounds or organized sound that links with our perception on time, since through music, the brain regulates time and creates pulses.

The writer indicated that "the music provokes brain connections in which first activates the audio cortex, then all the frontal regions and lastly activate a series of sensations provoked by pleasure, from there is a production of dopamine and that is why we feel satisfied". However, he also determined that music can be linked with another series of brain sensations such as anguish, wrath or cholera, this many times, depends on our personal associations.

To finalize, there was a public space to talk with the writer on diverse questions regarding the brain and music.

It is important to mention that Jorge Volpi is an essayer and narrator.
