The assistant director, producer and actor, Christopher Jaramillo tells the hours, dates and places where the play "Mujeres de Arena" will present. 

Guanajuato, Gto., February 22, 2016.- With the purpose to generate thought on the topic of murdered and missing women in Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua (Mex) and in all the Mexican republic in general, they present the play "Mujeres de Arena" (Sand women) written by Humberto Robles and directed by the Director of the Acting Group of the University of Guanajuato (UG), M. Alonso Echánove Rojas.

In a press conference, the assistant director, producer and actor, Christopher Jaramillo acknowledged that art and culture are the best way to fight violence. Likewise, they announced that have planned to take this play to other cities and communities in the state that were identified by their high indexes of gender violence.

This presentation will occur next Friday, February 29th at 19:30 hours. For the members of the UG's Acting Group is a social responsibility to fight against injustice and have the final objective to make the spectator to think and comprehend the situation each one of these women live.

The Director of UG's Acting Group, M. Alonso Echánove Rojas, thanked the support of the Direction of Cultural Extension for the making of this theater play. In the same way, he highlighted that "Mujeres de Arena" is no fiction, but a portrait of what happens in certain places in Mexico, that it is dedicated to who suffers the havoc of these facts.

On her behalf, Municipal Director of Culture, Lic. Claudia Alejandra Espinosa Andreu, mentioned that through the liaison with the city, supported by the Direction of Attention to Women and the Direction of Culture and Education will be possible to take "Mujeres de Arena" to places like Puentecillas and Santa Teresa, detected as high violence zones, places in which, besides taking the play, they will follow up with women that could assist with workshops of art therapy with the objective for them to express through another language.

Councilor Iovana Rocha Cano acknowledged the work the University of Guanajuato does through this proposal of M. Echánove, to portray a national and international reality and that also manages to translate what happens in different moments where the violence exists.

There will be functions next month on March 10th, 15th & 31st in different stages in the city. It is important to mention that the Acting Group has received invitations from a university in Puebla and the city of Lagos de Moreno.

In the press conference was also present the Coordinator of Groups and Artistic workshops, Lic. Guadalupe García Chávez.
