Guanajuato, Gto., February 18, 2016.- With the presence of students and university, state and city authorities, the state stage of the "Universiada Nacional 2016" was inaugurated and the enclosure will be the University of Guanajuato (UG).

Representing the university community, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino expressed his recognition to the athletes from the participant institutions because they are the artists of this great project.

He also made clear to the visitor universities that the doors of the University of Guanajuato will always be open for them. At the end, he added that the competitions will have only one winner and that it will be Guanajuato.

On his behalf, representing the Governor of Guanajuato, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, the General Director of the "Comisión del Deporte del estado de Guanajuato (CODE)", Lic. Isaac Noé Piña Valdivia, acknowledged the importance of the sport among the students and wished them success in the competitions that he assured that every university would be represented with dignity.

In his welcome message, the Director of Student Development of UG, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, mentioned that there around 800 students competing in agreement with the university values of each discipline and motivated them to take advantage of this opportunity to represent their institutions with pride.

In this event, UG will compete against 12 universities from the state of Guanajuato. This will conclude the next February 21st; here the students will perform in 18 sport disciplines in women and men categories, among them, baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball.

From the University of Guanajuato attended the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández; representing the Rector of Campus Celaya_salvatierra, Dr. Ma. Guadalupe Ojeda Vargas; Coordinator of Encouragement for the Student's Comprehensive Development, P.A. Cecilia Lucía Hernández Martínez; Rector of Campus Leon, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez; Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Ernesto Alfredo Camarena Aguilar; Director of High School, M. Martha Oliva Gallaga Ortega; division's director from the four campuses and directors of high schools.

In the event were also present in representation of Guanajuato's Mayor, Lic. Edgar Castro Cerrillo, the Councilor of the H. City Hall of Guanajuato, P.A. Julio Ortiz Vazquez; State's Delegate of CONDDE, Lic. Benjamín Vidaurri Aréchiga and authorities from other participant universities.
