Guanajuato, Gto., February 18, 2016.- The University Theater will celebrate 63 years of uninterrupted representations of the "Entremeses" of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. This artistic group of the University of Guanajuato (UG) is considered a cultural institution in the state, due to its strength of their career, dedicated to encouraging the theatrical discipline in the city.

To commemorate the anniversary, next Saturday, February 20th, will be a special function of the "Entremeses" on the small square "San Roque" at 21:00 o'clock, free entrance.

The current director of the University Theater, M. Hugo Gamba, reminded that a February 20th from 1953, under the direction of Lic. Enrique Ruelas, the University Theater presented, for the first time, the play of the "Entremeses".

"63 years ago this adventure began, an original set on stage that has given identity, pertinence and permanence in the university community", indicated M. Gamba.

He remarked that the representations of the play of Cervantes have given a cultural calling for the city of Guanajuato, because of them emerged the "Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC)", one the artistic festivals with more relevance in Latin America, and led Guanajuato to become the cultural destiny of Mexico.

Equally, one of the actors with a 25-year career in the University Theater, M. Arturo Gutiérrez Márquez, mentioned that under the direction of M. Eugenio Trueba began acting in several montages, he expressed that participating in "Entremeses" has granted them a feeling of permanence besides, he asserted that it is a privilege to stage a play as genuine as the Cervantes'.

M. Arturo Gutiérrez is the Director of the Theater Group "Eugenio Trueba" of the Division of Law, Politics and Government, in which he transmits to his students the satisfaction it generates to belong to a theater group so consolidated as the one of the University of Guanajuato, hence, new generations of students are currently participating in the traditional montages of the University Theater.

On his behalf, M. Hugo Gamba highlighted that in next Saturday's commemorative function, will give a series of acknowledgements to several actors that have participated in the functions, and will even grant posthumous awards that will be received by the families of the actors.

To finish, he assured that the University of Guanajuato and its Direction of Cultural Extension have been a great support for the development of the University Theater.
