Guanajuato, Gto., February 29, 2016.- The 11th edition of the International Festival of Horror Cinema "Aurora" began with the inauguration of the sculpture exposition of the artist Emil Melmoth in the gallery "El Atrio".

This event is organized by the University of Guanajuato (UG) through the Direction of Cultural Extension, in charge of Dr. Sara Julsrud López, who was at the event where also was present the director of this cinematographic initiative, Lic. Alejandro Montes Santamaría.

Also the founder of "Aurora", assured that during the editions he has encountered different proposal and stimulus that have made the festival to continue growing and thanked who have supported the project that is now 11 years old.

The International Festival of Horror Cinema "Aurora" will finish next March 5th, and it is worth to mention that this time, all the university community will be able to participate in their activities, since the programming was extended to the four campuses and high schools in UG.

Previous to the beginning of "Aurora", the art show of Emil Melmoth was inaugurated, who takes as a guide several contemporary artists, who manage the characteristic themes in Melmoth's art, such as human and animal deformation, as well as the physically ambiguous or amorphous.

Equally, to begin with this cinematographic show, the first feature film of the festival was projected, "Atroz" (Atrocious), the opera prima of the Mexican director Lex Ortega, which was exhibited at the Teatro Principal.

Lovers of terror appreciated a cinematographic work linked to an esthetic of the brutal. It is precise to mention that the director Lex Ortega has an outstanding career and is part of the new wave of terror filmmakers in Latin America. To the date he has directed five short films that have been selected in different national and international festivals in the genre.

It is important to mention, that in this edition of "Aurora", 51 short films will be projected, and they will come from countries such as Belgium, Spain, Chile, United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, France, Mexico, just to mention some.

The 11th International Festival of Horror Cinema "Aurora", will occur in its traditional locations: "Teatro Principal", UG's stairway and the auditorium "Euquerio Guerrero", in addition, this time will have a new venue, UG's General Auditorium, generating a circuit of enclosures that will please the fans of horror in its seventh expression.
