Guanajuato, Gto., February 29, 2016.- With the purpose of formulating strategies to invigorate higher education, there was a meeting of the "Enlaces Institucionales de la Región Centro Occidente (RCO)" of the "Asociacíon Nacional de las Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior (ANUIES)".

Such an event was held in the Laboratory of Parliament Practices in the Central Building of the University of Guanajuato.

At the gathering were present the liaisons from different state institutions such as Jalisco, Colima, Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, just to mention some, who worked to develop a plan that reinforces the administrative structure and the substantial functions of the different universities that comprehend the West Center Region.

The Director of ANUIES' "Órganos Colegiados", M. Pedro Hernández Santiago, was in charge of presiding the work meeting in which they planned to work with a collaborative focus with the objective to invigorate the substantial function of higher education, teaching, research and extension.

The institutional liaisons develop together an exercise to identify actions and projects of institutional impact of the RCO, in which they analyzed actions that need to be fortified, such is the case, obtaining resources and financing for public universities. Equally, research, diffusion and divulgation; as well as social service, academic extension, cooperation, exchange, mobility, inclusion and social equity.

It is worth to mention, that 180 higher education institutions compose ANUIES that divides into 6 regions, which have the same interests; that the academic formation of college students leads to a quality education vessel of a social responsibility.

M. Pedro Hernández Santiago, highlighted that on March 25th, ANUIES will turn 66 years of participating in the creation of programs, plans and national policies, as well as in the initiative of making organisms centered on the development of the higher education of Mexico.

Since its foundation in 1950, ANUIES unionizes the main higher education institutions in the country, whose common denominator is their will to promote their comprehensive improvement in the fields of teaching, research and the extension of culture and services.

At the meeting were present the Institutional Liaisons of the following universities: Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes; Universidad Tecnológica de Aguascalientes; Instituto Tecnológico de Aguascalientes; Universidad de Colima; Instituto Tecnológico de Colima; Universidad de Celaya; la Universidad Tecnológica de León; Universidad Tecnológica del Suroeste de Guanajuato; Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Irapuato.
