Guanajuato, Gto.,March 3, 2016.- As an opportunity to strengthen the link of the University of Guanajuato (UG) with society, the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, arranged several commitments with the first major of Victoria, among them, artistic workshops, elaboration of projects of touristic promotion and projects to restore historical sites and monuments.
This Wednesday, Dr. Corona Fernández received the visit from Lic. Héctor Montes Estrada, Victoria's Major and Architect José Alvarado Briones, Director of Public Work sites of such city; who requested support to elaborate professional executive projects before the Federation and the state.
Victoria's Major informed the Rector of Campus Guanajuato of the great patrimonial richness of the religious route, with highly venerated images by the people, some of which have up to thirty thousand visitors in high seasons, but also of the poor conditions some of these historic buildings have.
At par of churches, chapels and religious images, the zone has a great prehispanic legacy, the cave paintings in the hills and the scenery beauty being part of the Sierra Gorda, one of the reserves of the biosphere in Mexico, which gives it a great touristic potential that until now has not been correctly explored.
In this sense, the support the first major of Victoria solicited to the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, was for the elaboration of executive projects to restore buildings, for the touristic promotion and catalogue of historical sites and monuments, archeological zones and ecotourism activities.
In response, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández offered a sound support of the university community of Campus Guanajuato, for the great potential of liaison in many divisions, among them, the Economic-Administrative Sciences with the Tourism degree; Architecture, Art & Design for restoration projects and the Department of Music and Scenic Arts to offer workshops for the townsfolk. Briefly, the municipal and university authorities, will sustain a new reunion for the formalization of these projects.
