
Guanajuato, Gto., March 3, 2016.- Two publications from the Division of Architecture, Art & Design of Campus Guanajuato from the University of Guanajuato, received recognitions in the VI Regional Biennial "Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras", that has the theme "the responsibility of the architect before society" last February 26 and 27 in the Center of Arts of San Luis Potosí. Both recognitions were received by the architect Sylvia Herenia Corona Cortés, member of the "Colegio de Arquitectos Guanajuatenses, A.C."
In the category "publications, research and thesis", received the Silver Medal for the work "Metodología Gráfica: el paisaje urbano de la ciudad histórica de Guanajuato. Mapas, planos y fotografías" (Graphical Methodology: the urban landscape of the historical city of Guanajuato. Maps, blueprints, and photos) edited by the University of Guanajuato and the "Universidad Autónoma de Baja California", Collection "Pedro Lascurain de Retana", Institutional Books, First edition, 2015.
The coordinator of the text was the architect Gilberto Piñeda Bañuelos and the collaborators were Dr. María Jesús Puy y Alquiza, M. Jorge Enrique Cabrejos Morneo, M. José Luis Lara Valdés, M. Eveline Woitrin Bibot, Dr. María Guevara Sanginés, Arch. Héctor Bravo Galván, Selene Jasso Hernández, Miriam Roldán González, Cynthia de Lourdes Díaz Barajas, Valeria Torres Ramírez, José Bernardo Flores García, Rubén García Martínez, Xóchitl López Valadez, Lorena Monstserrat Carmona Padilla, Xate Tzitziki Aguilar Próspero and Alonso Hernández.
In the same category, "publications, research and thesis", received an Honorific mention the work "Memoria Gráfica y Testimonios. Escuela de Arquitectura Generación 1967-1971" (Graphic memories and testimonies. School of Architecture Generation '67-'71), edited by the University of Guanajuato, Collection "Pedro Lascurain de Retana", Institutional Books, First Edition 2015. The book's coordinators were Arch, Sylvia Herenia Corona Cortés and Arch. Gilberto Piñeda Bañuelos.
It is worth to remember that just this past November 16th 2015, within the celebrations of the LVI Anniversary of Instauration of the Architecture degree from the Division of Architecture, Art & Design, they presented the book "Memoria gráfica y testimonies" (Graphic memoire and testimonies), text that was born with the purpose to "fight against oblivion", because it reconstructs the shared history of a generation of young architects who graduates in '71 of the then School of Architecture of the University of Guanajuato.
The Biennial of Architecture is a regional summoning event that pretends to present and divulge the representative architectonic works, as well as making the public recognition of the professional quality, in the understanding that the professional practice of the architect must serve society and this constitutes as a social asset.
The members of the jury of the VI Biennial of Architecture Region II were Dr. Jesús Villar Rubio, scholar of the "Facultad del Hábitat" of the "Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí"; Arch. Rafael Navarro Rico, Property valuator; Arch. Eduardo Rafael Navarro Rico, ex director of the "Facultad del Hábitat" (before "Facultad de Arquitectura") of the "Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí"; and M. José Luis Santelices Escala, scholar of the "Universidad Pontificia Católica de Chile".
50 projects coming from all the Region II were audited, this region comprehends the Colleges of Architects of Aguascalientes, Celaya, Guanajuato, Huasteca Potosína, Irapuato, León, Michoacán, Querétaro, Salamanca, San Miguel de Allende, Valle de Santiago & Zacatecas.
