Guanajuato, Gto., MArch 2, 2016.- From March 7th until April 15th, there will be issuing slips for the admission exam of the Master in Site and Monument Restoration degree that will be taught in the location San Miguel de Allende of Campus Guanajuato, academic program that had been suspended in that city, but now is retaken, even with a new building.
As informed in an interview with Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, Rector of Campus Guanajuato, who remarked the great pertinence of the academic program with the patrimonial richness of the state and the field of work of all future graduates.
Dr. Corona Fernández highlighted that the presence of the University of Guanajuato is strong in San Miguel de Allende for years now, with an interesting, educational offer, for example, at mid-90's, they offered the common core of the degrees in History, Spanish Letters and Philosophy, but it was a project that only lasted a few years and could not continue because it was developed from a model of schools and faculties that they had back then.
Now the conditions are different, he said, with the new organizational model that allows the flexibility in the aperture of educational programs, although the master that now re-opens, was already taught.
On the matter, Dr. Antonio Salgado Gómez, Coordinator of the Academic Program Loc. San Miguel, confirmed that the Master was taught in the period of 2013-2015 and only a generation of nine students graduated, but, for space reasons, it was unable to continue. Fortunately, the University of Guanajuato, recently received a building in San Miguel de Allende, where, from August, will begin classes.
The idea is that the University of Guanajuato expands the educational offer, he said, and San Miguel de Allende has been a City of Humankind's Heritage since 2008 and it is an obligated referent when they speak about high level cultural tourism.
Who is interested in studying the Master in Site and Monument Restoration degree, should have a bachelor title, preferably in architecture, but can also be in engineering, environmental engineering, chemistry, history, archeology, anthropology; does not limit to only one discipline, just for people who are interested in the preservation and conservation of the heritage.
The Master degree that is taught in the City of Guanajuato still valid.
On her behalf, Dr. Elba Sánchez Rolón, General Coordinator of Academic Development of Campus Guanajuato, precise that the Master in Site and Monument Restoration degree taught in Guanajuato at the Division of Architecture, Art & Design, has never been suspended and still valid in its academic program independently from the program at the loc. in San Miguel de Allende.
In that tune, the academic program in the city of San Miguel is retaken because it has successful backgrounds and very good demand, but is also a parting point with the commitment to review the viability in other programs to expand the educational offer in the midterm of this location.
She informed that the master degree in San Miguel, will have four semesters beginning in August 2016 and concluding in June 2018, with schedules from Fridays and Saturdays.
