The Director of Cultural Extension of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Sara Julsrud López explains the artistic events and academic activities that are going to be presented in the 58th Book Fair and Cultural Festival.

Guanajuato, Gto., a 1 de marzo de 2016.- The 58th edition of the "Feria del Libro y Festival Cultural Universitario" (58th Book Fair & Cultural University Festival) is about to begin, an event that has become a tradition with the passing of the years, organized by the University of Guanajuato (UG) through their Direction of Cultural Extension.

From March 8th to 18th, the university community, Guanajuato's townsfolk and public, can enjoy of a nurtured program of cultural and literary events, as well as a wide editorial offer.

That was announced in a press conference by the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino and the Director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud López.

Dr. Guerrero Agripino, manifested that this 58th edition sums all the efforts of the university community, "for both the book fair and cultural festival, which already is an emblematic event for the university of Guanajuato as for the context of the city itself". He also commented that the programming will extend to several locations of the four campuses and there will also be events in the high schools.

On her behalf, Dr. Sara Julsrud mentioned that a guest of honor for the book fair, will be the "Universidad Veracruzana", which will be participating with a wide offer of artistic events and editorial presentations.

The Director of Cultural Extension, highlighted that fourteen artistic presentations integrate the program, from which, seven are about music, five theater programs and two of dancing. In addition, there will be twenty-eight editorial presentations, eight talks, three conferences, a dialogue table and diverse children's workshops.

This edition, the book fair will have two locations, the "Mesón de San Antonio", who will be focused on offering the readers books of university editorials such as the "Universidad Autónoma de México", the "Universidad Autónoma de Colima", the "Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana", the "Colegio de Sonora", the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato, to mention some.

On the other hand, in the "Patio del Antiguo Hospicio Jesuita", will the editorials "Fondo de Cultura Económia", "Educal", "Porrúa", "Paidós-Tusquets", among others.

It is important to mention that the 58th Book Fair of the University of Guanajuato will join the commemoration of the 400 death anniversary of the emblematic writers Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and William Shakespeare, with different activities that go from presentations of books to movie cycles.

Within the activities, they will celebrate the 60 years of the gallery "Hermenegildo Bustos" with an exposition precisely of the painter of Guanajuato of the collection of the Regional Museum "Alhóndiga de Granaditas".
