Guanajuato, Gto., March 1, 2015. With the objective to contribute in diminishing the inequality gap that exists between women and men in current society, the Director of "Las Libres", M. Verónica Cruz Sánchez, gave a talk at the University of Guanajuato (UG) with the name "Introducción a la perspectiva de género" (Introduction to the perspective of gender).

The activist, leader and founder of the "Las Libres" (The Free), exposed that the purpose is to sensitize the administrative workers, so that in the educational institution the reproduction of gender stereotypes is avoided, since they limit the development of people.

Verónica Cruz remarked that the micro machismo is ingrained in the culture, and they are perpetrated through formal education, the communication media, and the instruction received at home. From there the importance that an institution such as the University of Guanajuato is involved in the attention and the solution of the problems related to gender violence.

During the expo, in which he planted the basic concepts that allow understanding the gender violence, Cruz Sánchez enriched her arguments with the proposals, doubts and contributions from UG's administrative personnel.

On his part, the University General Controllership, M. Adriana De Santiago Álvarez pointed that the House of Studies works in constructing a culture of respect for diversity, and thanked the support of the expert in feminism, who handed her a recognition in the name of UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino.

M. Verónica Cruz is a graduate from International Trade (IPN), and Master in Organizational Development from UG. She has focused her formation in feminism and gender equity, topics in which she has trained with numerous courses, workshops and diplomas. Her work in favor of women has granted her important distinctions, such as being the first Mexican named defender of the Human Rights of the year by Human Rights Watch in 2006.
