
Guanajuato, Gto., March 4, 2016.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) joins the project for the Strengthening of the Higher Education in the state, making valid the commitment to collaborate with the "Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)" and the state government.
In his intervention, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, pronounced himself in favor of the cooperation of academic and government authorities, from different orders, and expresses that "the education requires collaboration liaisons. As there are no self-supporting people, there cannot be self-sufficient institutions. Autonomy is not and must not be isolating; on the contrary, the education is not an experience in loneliness, but an effort in a collective construction in the service of cities."
For the event, we had the presence of Dr. Enrique Graue Wiechers, rector of the "Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México", who expressed the necessity of the creation of "a new kind of education" that provides alternatives, since "there will not be a way to answer the educational needs of Mexico if the higher education institutions do not start doing something different."
In his participation, he thanked the presence of the state government and city's authorities, since that allows to feel the solidarity it has with the public university, in this sense, "in the bottom, what we do, we do it for Mexico," he pointed.
UNAM's Leon National School of Higher Studies (ENES) was host for the event with the name strengthening of Higher Education, where university authorities, as well as state and city authorities participated.
Dr. Javier de la Fuente Hernández, ENES' Director, was responsible to welcome the authorities, as well, as the students from diverse degrees offered by the unit Leon. Later, he presented a video whose content remarked the breakthrough and impact UNAM had had since its presence in the state, with its unit in Leon and the extension unit in the city of San Miguel De Allende.
Within the event, the participants agreed in the importance to achieve the collaboration with the objective to strengthen the coverage, opportunity and quality of education in the state.
In this act, the governor of the state of Guanajuato, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, made his presence where he reaffirmed the commitment to continue working in the topics of higher education in the state.
Likewise, were present the Cities Majors of Leon and San Miguel De Allende, Lic. Héctor López Santillana and Ricardo Villareal García, respectively; Dr. Éctor Jaime Ramírez Barba, President of the Board of the State of Guanajuato Congress; Ing. Eusebio Vega Pérez, Secretary of Education in the state of Guanajuato; Luis Herrera Estrella, Director of the National Laboratory of Genomics for Biodiversity, José Antonio de la Peña Mena, Director of the Center of Research in Mathematics AC (CIMAT) and Dr. Carlos hidalgo Valadez, Rector of UG's Campus León.
