Guanajuato, Gto., March 4, 2016. In the XXV National Olympic of Chemistry, high-school students from the University of Guanajuato had an outstanding participation by winning four medals, three silver and one bronze.

The winners of the silver medals are Agata Martha Wrobel Kaczmarczyk, from HS Guanajuato; Johan Axel Alfaro Valadez, from HS Centro Histórico León and Cynthia Jimena Luna González, from HS León.

In total, five of the six members of the Guanajuato Delegation who competed in this edition of the Olympics obtained medals, since Carol Herrera Ramírez, from HS Centro Histórico León obtained the bronze medal, same as Genaro Aldana Chávez, from HS De la Salle Bajío-Campus América.

The 25th edition of the National Olympics of Chemistry, that occurred from February 28th to March 4th, had the participation of 189 students in all the country, who created 32 delegations.

In the first stage of the competition, the youth made four theory exams, from there only 112 went through the next round, which was developed in the laboratories. It is important to mention that the six members of Guanajuato's Delegation reached this stage of the contest.

This year, Guanajuato's Delegation was integrated by Johan Axel Alfaro Valadez and Carol Herrera Ramírez from HS Centro Histórico León; Agata Martha Wrobel Kaczmarczyk from HS Guanajuato; Adrian Alejandro Martínez Salazar and Cynthia Jimena Luna González from HS León; also Genaro Aldana Chávez from High School De la Salle Bajío-Campus América.

The advisors who supported the students from Guanajuato through the whole preparation are the professors Miguel Ángel Ruiz Torres and Diego Armando Nicasio Tovar from Centro Histórico León, María del Carmen Rodríguez Robelo, from Guanajuato, Ana Cristina Esqueda Oliva and Salvador Rentería Hernández from León.

There also was an important support worth mentioning, and it is the support from Q.F.B. Victor Mejía Cobos, state delegate of the Olympics since 1993 and ascribed professor to the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE) of UG's Campus Guanajuato.

In the award and closing ceremonies of this Olympics' activities which the University of Guanajuato hosted, were also distinguished the National Committee that has been responsible of this event's organization for 25 years.

The work from 32 state delegates were also recognized for their effort to create this contest, such is the case of UG's HS Academic Secretary, Dr. Jesús Raúl Lugo Martínez.

In the ceremony were present the HS Director, Q.F.B. Martha Oliva Gallaga Ortega; the members of the National Committee of the Olympics, Dr. Maria Antonia Dosal Gómez and Dr. Carlos Mauricio Castro Acuña; Campus Guanajuato DCNE's Director, Dr. Martín Picón Nuñez and the ex-Olympic, Dr. Leonardo Álvarez Valtierra, who was part of the first edition of this contest.
