Guanajuato, Gto., March 10, 2016.- High School León's students from the University of Guanajuato (UG) shared their experiences in the National Olympics of Chemistry and the International Contest of Mathematics.
In the XXV edition of the National Olympics of Chemistry, the student Cinthia Ximena Luna González, obtained the silver medal. And the Mathematics Selective of HS Leon, integrated by Miguel Ángel Silvestre Limón, Erika Saito Raso and Oscar Daniel Robles Adon, obtained the first place in the International Contest of Mathematics organized by the Technological Institute of Monterrey.
The Chemistry Selective, Adrián Alejandro Martínez Salazar, talked about his experience in the National Olympics of Chemistry, who described it as a process that requires a lot of time and effort but in the end is very enriching personally. Adrian seeks to continue his preparation and he is about to begin a project called "Síntesis de alquinos asimétricos internos" (Synthesis of asymmetric alkynes) in UG's Research Summers.
From the Mathematics Selective, Oscar Daniel Robles Adon shared that this team emerges from the union of talent of his peers and thanks for the support from their families, professors and classmates, they achieved those results.
HS Leon's director, Lic. Luis Ernesto González González mentioned that these achievements are the result of team work, this way it is possible to consolidate projects in benefit of society.
On his part, by the name of the Chemistry Selective, Dr. Cristina Esqueda Oliva highlighted that there is a lot of work from the students and their advisors, since they combine the classes with their training for these competitions.
In the name of the Mathematics Selective, Prof. Salvador Rentería Hernández, said that the objective of this team is for the students to recognize their taste and skills to later apply them in benefit of society and science.
Also present were the professors of HS León, M. Bertha Mondelo Villaseñor and Eng. Humberto Velázquez Martínez; among other university community members.
