UG opened a period of consult to enrich the draft of the Institutional Program of Gender Equity 2016-2019 and the draft of the Protocol of Immediate Attention to cases of Gender Violence.

Guanajuato, Gto., March 8, 2016. With the conviction that the University of Guanajuato (UG) must contribute towards the construction of new paradigms, in which justice prevails, the Committee of Equity and Gender of the Institution presented the draft of the Institutional Program of Gender Equity 2016-2019 and the draft of the Protocol of Immediate Attention to cases of Gender Violence.

Both documents constitute preliminary version, that can be consulted in www.ugo.mx/genero so the university community is aware and enrich it with their proposals.

Exposing the progress of the Institutional Program of Gender Equity, "UGénero", the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that the creation of these projects is a great university act, that improves the construction of a plural and democratic society.

After acknowledging that there is a historical social gap in matter of equity, he held that the University assumes the commitment to integrate several voices, both from the members from the university community and other institutions, organisms and associations that work on the solution to this problem.

UG –he highlighted—commemorates the International Women's Day making actions, constructing new paradigms, in accordance with the spirit of justice that characterizes the House of Studies.

On her behalf, the coordinator of the Committee of Equity and Gender, Dr. Cirila Cervera Delgado exposed the main results from the work that this organ has developed; this organ is composed by representatives of the four university campuses and High School.

She also reminded the fundamental axis of the Institutional Program of Equity and Gender: Instruments, structures and processes UGénero, actions for a culture of equity and gender, formation, interinstitutional liaison; information and interinstitutional diagnostics; studies and academic collaboration.

In name of the professors, Dr. Rocío Rosas Vargas, member of the Committee of Equity and Gender, held that is the academics' task "to offer our knowledge so the University be a violence-free space."

After clearing that this path in UG does not start from zero, since there is a previous labor of numerous academics that have worked in favor of equity, she highlighted that "we have to know and we have to understand that inside the University there must not be allowed nor justified any kind of discrimination, not even gender violence."

In his intervention, M. Catalina Pérez Razo, doctorate student of Political Studies and Government, reminded that the perspective of gender was a present topic in the work plan of Dr. Guerrero Agripino, however, she thanked the sensitivity he displayed while expediting the actions in that sense.

She made a call to all UG members to commit in a firm and decided manner with respect for human rights, inclusion and justice; and to actively participate with actions and proposals.

On her behalf, the Director of High School Irapuato and member of the Committee of Equity; M. Raquel Castro Soriano, considered especially transcendent the inclusion of the High School, since she said that it is in the adolescence when the young consolidate their self-concept, self-esteem and identity; and give them these elements can help them to "construct a life project in function of no discrimination, equality and human rights."

In the ceremony in which they showed the progress of the Institutional Program of Gender Equity, were also present, as part of the presidium, the President of UG's Board of Directors, M. Martha Leticia Velázquez Morales and UG's Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa.

Also went to event members of UG's collegiate governing bodies, unipersonal authorities, professors, students and administrative personnel of the House of Studies.
