Guanajuato, Gto., March 7, 2016. Participating in the Scientific Research Summer is a very enriching experience that complements the academic formation and allows you to recognize the importance that the universities develop research, says Miguel Eduardo Alva Rivera, who after his experience, he aspires to enter a postgraduate program in the University of Guanajuato (UG).

The program known as "UG Summers" emerged in the House of Studies 22 years ago, time in which it has maintained the objective to encourage the scientific calling of the youth by giving them the chance to collaborate with a researcher for approximately five weeks; at the end of the stay, the students expose the results from their work in an Institutional Congress and publish an article in the magazine "Jóvenes en la Ciencia" (Youth in Science).

Eduardo Alva Rivera participated in the UG Summers while he was on the las trimester in the "Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM)". He developed the project "En dónde se generan las políticas públicas. Un estudio comparado entre América Latina y la Unión Europea" (where the public policies generate. A study compared Latin America and the European Union), advised by Dr. Fernando Barrientos del Monte, ascribed to the Department of Political Studies and Government in the University of Guanajuato.

On the matter, he says it was "a very enriching experience that allows you to have direct contact with a researcher, with this other part at the university that is research." In his case, allowed him to hone the focus of his thesis: "here I was taught what compared politics are, a module that in my syllabus didn't exist. So it also helps you to have the complementary part for their academic formation."

As a student of the Public Policies degree, Eduardo Alva was already interested in research, but wanted to participate in UG Summers helped him confirm his calling.

"I think that for any young man who is studying at the University is an experience that you have to live. It is necessary to surround of academics that everyday try to generate resources, knowledge," he considers that the work of the researchers is under appreciated, and he is sure that participating in this program helps recognize the importance for their work."

Currently, the program has five modalities: Scientific Research Summer for students inscribed in UG's degrees and the state of Tabasco; Scientific Research Summer for excellence students of Mexico or foreign; Scientific Research Summer for high-school students, Scientific Research Summer in Business and Governmental Dependencies and Scientific Research Summer "Ingenious Ideas."

Degree and high-school students can participate; they have until March 17th to subscribe. In case of being accepted, they will make a stay from June 13th to July 15th, and will receive an economic support.
