Irapuato, Gto. March 14, 2016.- An expo called "Una artista llamada luz" (An artist called light) arrived to the city of Irapuato, from Dr. Cristina Margarita Gómez Sarabia, professor-researcher of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca of the University of Guanajuato and students from the Digital Arts and Mechatronics programs.

The professor and students from the Division of Engineering participate with seven installations of art using light, whose vibrating movement spreads in space, is captured by the human eye in diverse ways and colors.

From March 11th to April 11th, the expo will be open for the public, and it is particularly recommended for children about the purpose to attract them to science. There were some works at their eye sight, so they could observe in detail. It results especially attractive for children, two fish tanks and a glass display with moving butterflies.

The expo was inaugurated by the City Hall's Councilor, Idalia Soto Martínez, accompanied by the Director of the Museum of the City, Lic. Alfredo Olmos Villegas; by the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Ernesto Camarena Aguilar and by Dr. Cristina Gómez Sarabia, director of the project.

This project was generated in 2015, to celebrate the International year of the Light and Technologies based in light, with the purpose to promote it as a mean of artistic contemplation and ludic activity that invites to the exploration of the light beyond its reach in traditional terrains.

The multidisciplinary work as a doctor in physics, specialized in optics, with students in digital arts and mechatronic, pretends a new exploration through the use of light, linking optics, art and the interaction of the spectator.

The works in the Museum of Irapuato show two phenomena of optics: the caustic which envelops rays of light reflected or refracted by a curve surface and object, or the enveloping projection of rays in another surface. The other phenomenon is the polarization that also relates with the wavy nature of light.

It is worth mentioning that part of this work also exhibited in the city of Salamanca, and particularly the work named "pecera mágica" (magical fish tank), was part of the expo "En clave de luz" (In key of light) in the University of Valencia, Spain, where Dr. Gómez represented the University of Guanajuato.
