León, Gto., March 16, 2016. For the seventh consecutive year, Dr. Martha Silvia Solís Ortíz, researcher-professor of the Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Guanajuato Campus Leon had the "International Week of the Brain" were joint efforts from professors, postgraduate students and now special guests such as children and teenagers are involved, so they know about the function and development of the brain and the influence of emotion in their everyday life.

It is worth mentioning that between the year 2010 and 2015, the International Week of the Brain has presented 32 conferences given by neuroscientists, 72 exposed posters, 60 brain demonstrations, nine professors and 33 students in organization, exposition and support activities, besides having 4,700 visitors, 800 in average from each edition.

In this edition of the International Week of the Brain, there was a line dedicated to the "emotional brain" in which the speakers addressed themes such as "The emotions and wellbeing", "Happiness and where to find it," "Emotions in neuro-degenerative diseases." In the same way, attendees enjoyed a brain expo and visited the "Tunnel of emotions" in which they showed posters with topics related to emotions as joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez; Rector of Campus Leon, mentioned in his intervention the importance of emotions in everyday life since they reflect each person's internal world, besides directing conducts and evaluating several situations to take decisions.

During the beginning of activities, there was the presence of Dr. Luis Felipe García y Barragán, Director of the Department of Psychology, representing Dr. Tonatiuh García Campos; Director of the Division of Health Sciences; and Dr. Gabriel Cortés Gallo, Director of the Department of Medicine and Nutrition; and Dr. José Luna Muñoz, member of the Center of Research and Advanced Studies.
