Guanajuato, Gto., March 17, 2016.- Within activities of the 58th edition of the Book Fair and University Cultural Festival, there was a conference regarding the paintings of Hermenegildo Bustos.

Parallel to the activity, they celebrate the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of the Gallery Hermenegildo Bustos, considered as one of the most important and representative spaces in the region and a referent in the diffusion of arts.

And it is precisely in this scenario where the talk occurred in command of the M. Marissa Pérez Vela, who welcomed the attendees and invited them to make a tour to enjoy the paintings of the excellent painter from Guanajuato, pointing out that this collection integrates works from other contemporary painters and also identified as popular. "The expo is composed by religious portraits and imagery, related with the devotion of the habitants of Purísima del Rincón and other towns" he added.

"La magia de la efigie y el universe diáfano" (The magic of the effigy and the diaphanous universe) is the title of this expo, curatorship of M. Pérez Vela, who pointed that Hermenegildo Bustos is one of the most renowned popular painters in the 19th century. Likewise, described the characteristics that identify the artist, whose work is based upon the portrait technique.

"He painted renowned families in the time that lived in Purísima del Rincón". He highlighted the great realism the painter injected into his paintings, where you can even count the hair and reflect with high fidelity the expressions and personality of whom he painted.

Through the tour, they highlighted pieces that were present sixty years ago in this gallery, and those are paintings that invite to travel through the enchantment of the limpid representations in the strokes of Hermenegildo Bustos, reminiscing over the acquired commitment of being a University to the service of culture with the objective of divulging artistic expressions.

It is worth mentioning that our sample inscribes in the Project Art Spaces of the University of Guanajuato, cultural initiative with the sound purpose to divulge and promote between the university community and society in general, the development of methods of analysis from the artistic context and its legitimation processes in the cultural ambience.
