beneficio-ejercicio-en-pacientes-con-enfermedades-renales-universidad-guanajuato-ug

Guanajuato, Gto., Macrh 20, 2016. As part of his project for the Master in Medical Sciences from the University of Guanajuato (UG), David Ramos Borja tries to prove that moderate physical activity significantly improves the quality of life of people with renal disease, and can even break the progress of the disease at early stages.

Ramos Borja explained in an interview that it had been detected in patients with renal disease that they tend to have a sedentary lifestyle; therefore, it is common they have cardiovascular problems.

His research is focused on proving that practicing physical activity produces a change in the artery level, since they exude certain substances, and that could stop the progression, slowing the progress of the renal disease or even revert the damage. This, in the initial stages of the disease.

To prove it, he works with a team of 80 patients, divided into two groups, the intervention group and the control group. The group that practices exercise for six months, three times a week, would prove the positive impact of the physical activity.

The participants in the study will practice spinning and use rubber bands to develop muscle resistance, all this, under medical supervision, and avoid health risks.

The project, led by Dr. Daniela Beatriz Muñoz López, aspires to improve the quality of life of the patients with renal diseases, but also avoid the development of this illnesses in people diagnosed with diabetes or obesity.

Ramos Borja exposed that the interest of the topic emerged because it is about a disease more frequent every time, and it usually detects in its most advanced stages. The treatment besides making an impact in the quality of life of people, is very expensive, from there, the need to seek alternatives to delay or avoid reaching dialysis and hemodialysis.

In this sense, he highlighted the importance of developing research, at the brink of chosen major; it is fundamental "for new knowledge to emerge, innovative ideas to grow our institution, but also to raise the country" he concluded.
