Irapuato, Gto., April 4, 2016.- César González Ponciano, student from the University of Guanajuato, obtained the bronze medal in the Irapuato Open Submission Grappling, a sport of combat and personal defense, whose tournament registered more than 100 participants.
César González, who obtained the third place in the category beginners of less than 60 kilos, is a student from Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny in Campus Irapuato-Salamanca and he is from Santa Catarina, Guanajuato.
With support from his coach Juan Francisco González Jasso, the 20-year-old student, participated in the martial art tournament with a total of eight combats, had a preliminary of eleven fighters, where five finalists emerged.
"Is something very satisfactory for my first competition, first I was going to enjoy and learn what I could because they are different people and acquire another form to see the situation. This participation opened new roads; it was a very good experience" said the college man.
In Campus Irapuato-Salamanca was created the team of Grappling Jiu Jitsu in August 2015; with institutional support, they bought the material for training and called the students to participate with training two days a week. The group began with 15 students from the Division of Life Sciences and César González joined in on October last year, having previous experience in Lima Lama.
Grappling Jiu Jitsu was born circa 50 years ago. Grappling refers to all those systems of a body fight that don't involve punches to defeat the rival. They use throwing, position or submission techniques to achieve points or force redemption. The creator of the systems is Helio Grazie, who believed that a fighter can defeat anyone disregarding force and size, what matters is the technique.
Encouraged by the good result in the sport joust organized by Prof. Arturo Dumaine in Irapuato's Deportiva Norte, the team's coach Francisco González invites the students who are interested in acquiring skill in personal defense, to go Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 18:00 in the orchard of the Ex Hacienda El Copal.
