León, Gto., April 5, 2016.- There is a purpose to strengthen the work from the National Network of Condensed Soft Matter, coordinated by the researcher from the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Alejandro Gil Villegas Montiel, and seeks to obtain the re-accreditation from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), that will allow progress in scientific work with medical application.

The national coordinator of the network, Dr. Alejandro Gil Villegas Montiel, researcher-professor from Campus Leon, explained that one of the research topics of the network is the biomaterials, elements that have a great impact in society since some are created to replace a part or a function of the human organism in a safe way and physiologically compatible.

With the network's research, they pretend to identify the required properties in the materials used in prosthesis, probes and catheters, among others. Within the biomaterials, there are the biopolymers, with whom you can develop facial prosthesis, ear part prosthesis, dental applications; pacemaker, kidneys, liver and lungs. Equally considered during the selection of materials for surgical implants that makes their components light, low-cost and its properties, stable through time.

Dr. Gil Villegas expressed that the re-accreditation from CONACYT will allow to continue with the third stage during the project, in which they seek to strengthen research projects, jointly collaborate with other networks, as well as work groups from other countries and allow students to access mobility programs to present their projects in places such as England, US, Spain and Germany.

With the network's internationalization, they seek to develop research projects with students from the degrees in Biomedical engineering and Physics Engineering, postgraduate students, thesis students and professors. It is worth mentioning that the network promotes the participation of students from different areas to have a multidisciplinary work.

"The idea is to induce students into research projects in first-world countries with work schemes that generate the mechanisms to make the work simpler in an area that has an international impact" commented Dr. Alejandro Gil Villegas.

The network conformed in 2009 and in this third stage, with support from CONACYT, they project to have more divulgation of what the network does and the benefits generated by the research projects.

The project presented by the coordinator of the National Network of Soft Condensed Matter before CONACYT, Dr. Alejandro Gil Villegas, will be endorsed to receive a year support to continue with the projects that influence in matters of health, as well as other industries such as the automotive sector which is having a great growth in the region.
