Salamanca, Gto., April 6, 2016.- The Mechanical Engineering program from the University of Guanajuato, is a quarry of talents, as shown by their graduates, who obtained the first places in the XXV National Thesis Contests organized by the Institute of Electrical Research (IIE), in cooperation with the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE) and the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).

Fernando Cano Banda had the best degree thesis in the category of efficiency, energetic saving and sustainability, with the project "Análisis de un novedoso colector difusor con geometría concéntrica para celdas de combustible tipo PEM" (Analysis of a newly diffusor collector with concentric geometry for PEM fuel cells).

Luis Daniel Lorenzini Gutiérrez, obtained the first place in the category of Renewable energies with the master thesis "Modeling of local water behavior in the gas channels of a PEM fuel cell".

The advisor of both winning theses, was the professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Abel Hernández Guerrero, who was very satisfied for the achievements of his ex-students, who are now abroad taking a postgraduate.

The researcher-professor also received an award from the Institute of Electrical Research for advising the best theses which participated in the National Contests 2013-2015.

Although Daniel Lorenzini is currently in the doctorate program at Georgia Tech, he came to Mexico for the award ceremony. In the case of Fernando Cano, who is making a research stay in Texas A&M University, was his father who represented him in the event at the IIE's facilities in Cuernavaca, Morelos.

These results are a motivation to continue working and guiding the students to develop research and innovation, because the youth has the capability and talent to compete with the best, considered the professor at the Division of Engineering.
