
León, Gto., April 7, 2016.- The World Health Day commemorates every April 7th since 1945, and the World Health Organization (WHO) selects a new topic that highlights the aspects of public health with world interest and this time emphasizes on intensifying the prevention, improve the attention and reinforce the vigilance in diabetes.
Therefore, in Campus Leon from the University of Guanajuato (UG) there had been forums of health care, organized by students from diverse educational programs, as well as making sports activities for the student community.
Diabetes is one of the diseases with more increments in the world, besides making the population aware about the diabetes increase and its overwhelming loads and consequences and encouraging a set of specific, efficient and affordable activities to face the disease, as well as to inform the society that health is a right from all human beings.
In an interview with Dr. Juan Carlos Montesinos Carranza, professor at Campus Leon ascribed to the Department of Medicine and Nutrition, highlighted the relevance of battling diseases such as Type 2 diabetes and prevent it with healthy food habits, make physical activities, besides avoiding risk behaviors such as consuming alcohol and tobacco.
He constantly recommended attending medical reviews to diagnose possible diseases, prevent them and in their case begin their treatment on time. "Our society is sedentary and has a deficient nourishment; therefore, it is important to prevent to improve our health, which has a direct impact in our quality of life" he commented.
He added that the problems and consequence the disease carries and one of the most recurrent matters in the Mexican population is obesity, which is present in teenagers and adults, so he invited the people to engage in the care of health.
Finally, Dr. Montesinos Carranza mentioned that Mexican society has a deficient diet, a key factor for this type of diseases without disregarding genetic risks. "The increase of Type 2 diabetes requires a lot of attention from the health sector, and it is necessary to have the population educated in the prevention and have a healthy lifestyle" he commented.
