Guanajuato, Gto., April 8, 2016.- With the finality of promoting the best practices to reduce the incidence of accidents and diseases between workers and administrators in construction and influence on the application to the regulation in safety and health, began in the Magnus classrooms of the University of Guanajuato ((UG), the "First Colloquium of Safety and Health in the Industry of Construction."

After inaugurating the works in the Colloquium, hosted by the Division of Engineering, the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández congratulated the Organizing Committee who made possible this important reunion, since in the last years, has been greatly promoted in companies and work centers, the topic of safety and self-protection of risks in the work environment.

Dr. Corona observed that each year the work accidents and risks caused labor absence, loss of qualified personnel and even loss of human lives, terrible situation than can be prevented through a solid culture of prevention and protocols of action for safety and health in work.

Campus Guanajuato, highlighted, has emphasized in the development of programs, strategies and brigades to promote the culture of self-protection and protection and the strict compliance of the national and international norms in the matter within its different venues, nevertheless, they recognize there still much to do and degrees such as engineering in their professional practice, imply risks, and it is important to update educational programs.

Therefore, he was very pleased that Campus Guanajuato was hosting this important encounter that gathers professionals in the areas of engineering and architecture and everyone who is interested in the construction branch.

On his part, M. Victor Guillermo Flores Rodríguez, Academic Secretary from the Division of Engineering, representing Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, Director of such Division, sustained that the Division of Engineering is concerned for forming human beings capable and with the necessary sensitivity to establish improvements in their environment.

In his opportunity, Lic. Ángel Arellano Espinoza, Federal Delegate of the "Secretaria de Trabajo y Previsión Social en Guanajauto", exhorted the attendees to the colloquium –students and professors of engineering, architecture and construction businessmen—to know and respect the labor regulation, because everybody in its moment will be workers or employers in the branch and their obligation is to know the rules of the game; hence, he widely congratulated the University of Guanajuato for promoting encounters such as this one, which will extend its worktables until Friday.

Furthermore, at the opening ceremony, Arch. José Luis Lomelín García, representing Eng. José Arturo Durán Miranda, Secretary of Public Work Sites from the Government of Guanajuato and Eng. Carlos Álvarez, from the Organizing Committee of the Colloquium of Safety and Health in Construction.
