Guanajuato, Gto., April 12, 2016.- With the objective to strengthen the academic and cultural exchange between the University of Guanajuato (UG) and Japan, authorities from the Asian country visited the facilities of the Maximum House of Studies.
Representing UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa welcomed the Japanese authorities and students inscribed in UG.
In his message, he highlighted that the presence of their country is of great importance for the academic, economic and social development for the state. He mentioned that it is relevant to strengthen the collaborations with Japan, since the mutual support has great benefits for society.
It is worth mentioning that UG has established academic collaboration links with the Asian country for twenty-six years. Currently, there are two academic programs with double degrees with Japanese universities, sustains a relationship with seventeen institutions in Japan and working in three more agreements.
In his first visit to Mexico, the Minister of the State of External Relations from Japan, Mr. Yoji MUTO, recognized that the academic programs done between both countries have been very fruitful, and showed the openness to continue with these collaborations that enrich the development of the youth.
On his behalf, UG's Academic Secretary, Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez said that education is an opportunity to work together in benefit of society through strategic institutional collaboration.
At the end of the gathering, the Pro Vost handed invitations to the Japanese authorities to attend next April 15th to the delivery of the Doctorate Honoris Causa to Koichi Niihara, ex-rector of Nagaoka University of Technology.
Japanese students shared the Nippon authorities their experiences during their academic stay at the University of Guanajuato.
At the reunion were present the Director of International Relations and Academic Collaboration from UG, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz; the Coordinator from the Japanese area, Prof. Midori Kato; the General Consul of Japan in Leon, Mr. Yasuhisa SUZUKI; the Deputy Director of Central America and the Caribbean, Ministry of Exterior Relations, Daisuke NIHEI; Minister's MUTO Secretary, Wataru ISHIKAWA; Ascribed Director, Direction of Central America and Caribbean, Ministry of Exterior Relations, Kenji MAEHIGASHI; Consul of Japan in Leon, Akiko KOBAYASHI; and the translator from the Embassy of Japan in Mexico, Yuko Nakamura.
