Dr. Javier Corona Fernández highlighted the academic offer and the quality of the educative programs; as well as the social commitment which distinguishes the students at UG.

Guanajuato, Gto., April 13, 2016. When presenting the annual report of progress and achievements 2015, the Rector from Campus Guanajuato from the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, highlighted the growth of the coverage and educative offer, as well as the high standards of quality that distinguish the institution. The progress, said, have been reached thanks to the talent and work together from the members of a proactive community, which represents the university values.

Campus Guanajuato –the largest in UG—has six divisions and an enrollment of 9, 825 students in the terminal high school programs, degrees and postgraduate. In this cipher adds, the students enrolled in language courses and diplomas, who give a total amount of 13,545 students.

In 2015, the cipher of Full-time professors reached 432, from which more than 93% have postgraduate studies. Regarding the 78 educative programs offered, 28 have quality recognition and two of them with international accreditations.

When informing about the resources generated by the Campus through several services, extension courses and continuous education, consulting and specialized analysis, among others, Dr. Javier Corona pointed out that "it is urgent to appreciate the meaning of social level and what it brings to the state university of Guanajuato." However, above all, he invited to value the main richness of UG: its students.

In his message, the Rector from Campus Guanajuato also mentioned the most urgent challenges, such as defeating desertion, increasing the degree rate and improve the administrative function.

When he spoke about UG's commitment, he emphasized that education is an essential factor for peace, tolerance, human realization and the sustainable development. It is –highlighted— "the foundation of an equal and inclusive society," so he made a call to all the university community to sum their capabilities to contribute the construction of a better society.

Representing the university community, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, congratulated and thanked the university community from Campus Guanajuato, "their contributions in teaching, research and extension strengthen all the University. Likewise, their work of extension and liaison acquired relevance in the measure, they are aware of the social sense and the humanist commitment that prevails in all academic entities" he sustained.

Dr. Guerrero, who was at the front of Campus Guanajuato for nine of the twelve months of the informed period, said that it is the moment to visualize new challenges, so he revealed that briefly there will be a summon to review the university regulation, they will review the challenges planted in the Institutional Development Plan and will work in an administrative reform that makes possible for the decentralization of university campuses and high schools.

Representing the State Governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez; attended the ceremony the Sub-secretary of Higher Education from the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Education and ex-Rector from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca from UG, M. René Jaime Rivas, who said that Dr. Javier Corona informed, shows that the University of Guanajuato offers a great quality education.

He added that UG is the spearhead in the state in the formation of high-quality human resources. Therefore, the government of Guanajuato is proud and grateful with the House of Studies for their contribution to the entity.

Representing the professor staff from Campus Guanajuato, spoke Dr. Adriana Marina Martínez Maldonado, who highlighted the freedom of class, development opportunities and stimulation that UG offers their scholars.

In the meantime, the student Javier Adrián Vargas Gallegos, representing the students from campus, invited his partners to have a more active role in education and involve more in activities towards the fulfillment of the university's mission.
