Guanajuato, Gto. April 13, 2016.- More than six decades of arduous work, filled with tradition and companionship, have identified the Estudiantina from the University of Guanajuato (UG), where great characters have participated and many histories have been written.

On April 13, 1953, the Estudiantina presented for the first time, after a scene from the "Entremeses Cervantinos", and one of the founders and first director, M. Pedro Luis Martínez Aguirre, explained that, that day was special, and somewhat stressful since they didn't have the costumes yet, and had to wait for hours before their presentation.

"For me the estudiantina, is everything: realization, coexist" assured M. Martínez.

M. Pedro Luis Martínez studies the Chemical Engineering degree, in addition of being part of the theater, reminds that after the presentations of the "entremeses" several friends gathered in the Condesa alley, which witnessed the birth of the idea of UG's estudiantina.

This idea was created by Joaquín "El Flaco" Arias, --I was the only one who listened to him and seconded him—assured M. Martínez.

M. Martínez has a musical vocation f by his family, since he was five, he was involved in this art; being the only who knew music, he helped more than thirty estudiantina members in their musical formation for a year and a month before their first official presentation in '53.

"Everyone was tunes, all sang very well, Armando Andrade "El Huesos" had a really nice voice", reminded M. Martínez.

One of the members of the estudiantina was Marco Antonio Guerrero González, who was a composer, among his compositions are "Callejoneando", "El Niño Dios de la Tuna", "Ponte mi Capa y Verás".

In his behalf, M. Pedro Luis Martínez Aguirre, collaborated as a musical researcher, since he went to towns and listened the traditions and several songs, they have a great story behind, that you can almost detect on their lyrics.

There are four songs where M. Martínez is co-author: "El silbidito", "Pregúntale a las estrellas", "De murciélago" and "Domunus teco".

UG, from the beginning supports the entrepreneur spirit of its students, and currently continues this arduous labor, in every area, to strengthen the comprehensive education, which is one of the institutional fortes.
