León, Gto., April 16, 2016.- The First Mexican AstroCosmoStatisticsSchool is an initiative that sums efforts from researcher-professors from the Division of Science and Engineering from the University of Guanajuato (UG) from Campus Leon, to contribute in the formation of students in techniques of statistical analysis of the astrophysical and cosmological observations, current and future.

As the name indicates it, the First Mexican AstroCosmoStatisticsSchool will have their first edition that will occur within the city of Leon from April 16-21 of the current year in the Hotel "Real de Minas Poliforum".

They will have the participation of seven researchers from foreign universities and have activities programmed that will allow the attendees to work in diverse research projects under the supervision of experts from the University of Guanajuato.

International researchers from renowned institutions such as Imperial College of London, Universidad de Barcelona, Edinburg University, California University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Royal Observatory and two Mexican researchers from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México" (UNAM), who are international leaders in the use of statistical methods for the inference of parameters in cosmology and astrophysics, will also join the event.

The present school pretends to contribute in the divulgation of knowledge and the generation of human resources with new possibilities of insertion to work life, in areas that require handling and analysis of big data bases such as economy and health.

It is expected that the students and whoever is interested in the topic, develop the necessary skills to use the tools in the emergent world of Big Data, which has been a consequence of the intensive use of information technologies.

It is worth mentioning that currently three professors from the Division of Science and Engineering from the University of Guanajuato, Campus Leon, are part of the international collaboration DESI (Dark Energy Spectroscopy Survey), who seeks to complete one of the largest censuses of galaxies, approximately 20 million of them, until today.

With the contributions from the researcher-professor from UG they seek to attract students to work on these topics, in addition, to begin the preparation of a new generation of students capable of handling the great quantity of data that exist in observing the cosmos with what they can make studies from the past and make projective studies.

The University of Guanajuato confirms the interest on developing activities that impact on society and provide valuable tools to a group of researchers and the student community. To check the program, please visit fisica.ugto.mx/~events/cosmo
