Guanajuato, Gto., April 21, 2016.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) reaffirmed its commitment with health by participating in the XXVIII National Congress of the Mexican Federation of Diabetes (FMD), A.C., which took place in the facilities of Poly-forum Leon.

The Congress has the objective to provide updated information about this illness and promote the culture of prevention, adoption of healthy lifestyle habits, improve the control between people that already live with it and position education in diabetes as a primordial part of the treatment.

Representing UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, assisted the Director from UG's "Red Médica", Dr. Daniel Pérez Cervantes; and the Director of the Division of Health Science from UG's Campus Leon, Dr. Tonatiuh García Campos.

In his intervention, the President of FMD's Directive Council, Lic. Manuel Arturo Martínez Barrera, remarked that to treat diabetes it is necessary to make changes in the life style through physical activity and healthy nourishment.

He also mentioned that prevention as well as diffusion of the information about this disease is fundamental to the control and encouragement of healthy life styles among the population.

It is worth mentioning that the Congress will occur from April 21 to 23, and will have informative tables, conferences, workshops and other educative activities and physical activation aimed for health professionals, people who live with diabetes, their family and public interested in this disease.

At the event were present, the President of the "Asociación Méxicana de Diabetes en Guanajuato A.C.," Dr. Fernando Mendoza Morfin; State Commissioner of "Conciliación y Arbitraje Médico," Dr. Trinidad Ernesto Caratachea; representing the Secretary of Health, Dr. José Narro Robles, the Technical Secretary and General Director General of "Promoción de la Salud," Dr. Eduardo Jaramillo Navarrete; the Sub-Director in "Secretaría de Salud Federal," Lic. Ana Carolina Cháirez Jiménez; the Director of "Salud Municipal," Dr. Mario Sopeña Mata; FMD's founding President, Mrs. María Levy de Alva; medical Director, Dr. Jorge Humberto Moreno García; President of the "Consejo Directivo de la Asociación Mexicana de Diabetes en Guanajuato A.C.," Sra. Georgina Cano del Río.
