Guanajuato, Gto., April 22, 2016.- The project "UG Mentors", conceived by students from Campus Guanajuato, puts closer science, art and environment care to children from 4th, 5th, and 6th grades that, through workshops and ludic activities, discover their possibilities and talents.

On April, the third, annual edition of the project will take place, in that time, it has grown in participation of both mentors and children and today; they work with six schools in the city, with more than 30 children and students from Campus Guanajuato and the Laboratory of Mobile Robotics from the Division of Engineering, Campus Irapuato-Salamanca.

Karla Yadira Romero Sandoval, student of the degree in Education from the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies and one of the responsible for the project, revealed that it was created by students from DCEA and "Fundación RI" three years ago, but today, some scholars have joined, external people and even graduates as well, besides, this semester they have the participation of practically all the divisions from Campus Guanajuato, all volunteers.

Mentors work with children from Monday to Friday in the afternoons. They have four themes in this edition: the first week is science and technology; the second is environment; the third is history, art and culture, and they'll conclude with the topic of nutrition and health.

The children make experiments in every theme, for example, they lit light bulbs connected with fruits, made ice cream and planted trees; and in the topic of history and art, will have a workshop of prehispanic seals in the "Alhóndiga de Granaditas".

Romero Sandoval precise that is not about continuing school, because the activities are recreational, talents are detected and contribute in inhibiting the school desertion because for the little ones, the mentor is a role model, because if they could go to college, they could too.

The journeys are completely free and are funded with sponsors, for example, for the workshop last Saturday, the Division of Engineering from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca offered a laboratory of Robotics in "Foro Inundación".
