León, Gto., April 25, 2016.- The University of Guanajuato Campus Leon closed its participation in the Festival of Arts, Science and Human studies with a series of activities in the citizen's plaza "Efraín Huerta" from "Las Joyas".

From 9 o'clock, thirty students from the educational programs of Nutrition, Medical Surgeon and Psychology, installed stands that compose the ninth edition of the Hospital "Ositos", a program organized with the objective that children lose fear of medical check-ups and the infirmary personnel.

As part of the activities, the children took in their arms a stuffed animal, which received attention in the different areas that compose a hospital; at the end receive candy, as the "prescription" says.

Hospital "Ositos" is a worldly initiative from the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) in the area of public health, and in the University of Guanajuato occurs in dates close to Children's day. This time, they tended around 300 students in Las Joyas.

In addition, UG students offered the citizens a workshop of metabolic monitoring, which allowed to detect patients with diabetes, who received orientation as for food and weight; furthermore, they gave Zumba sessions as a complement of what is given in the stands. This activity was led by Dr. Sergio Márquez Gamiño and students from the degree in Physical Activity and Health Sciences.

Participated the researchers-professors from Campus Leon, Dr. Luis Felipe García y Barragán with the talk "Árbol que crece torcido ¿jamás su tronco endereza? Covering the topic of change of habit and attitudes and Dr. Joel Martínez Soto with the talk "Areas verdes y salud mental", in which he highlighted the role of the green areas in our everyday life. Both professors are from the Department of Psychology from the University of Guanajuato.
