Guanajuato, Gto., April 25, 2016. The General Rector from the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, took an oath from the students of the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG) who integrate UG's Debate team, currently coordinated by the student Luis Alfredo García Martínez.

In the ceremony, which was also the framework for the official presentation of the team members, the General Rector from UG congratulated the students for leading this project, a sample of the university spirit, open to divergent postures, tolerant and respectful.

He pointed out that this kind of projects are related with what should transcend from UG's educative model, which as an axis has the trajectory of his students. For the institution, the impact of its students and graduates it's a priority, held the General Rector.

The Debate team from the University of Guanajuato (EDUG) is an example of commitment with the democratic culture and a constant search for truth, hence; Dr. Guerrero trusted that the work from the members will contribute in consolidating the prestige of the Division of Law, Politics and Government.

The Director of the Division of Law, Politics and Government, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera celebrated who formalized EDUG, "let us hope this is the beginning of a university tradition", she expressed. Furthermore, she highlighted that this sample of plurality –said—is a great lesson, so she exhorted to continue in this path to consolidate "such valuable" project.

At the event, representing the Rector from Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, the Academic Secretary of Campus, Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla who congratulated DDPG, the students for this initiative, but also professors and advisors for creating capable professionals, but above all "more thoughtful and critic citizens, which is what our society needs".

EDUG's main promoter and coordinator, Luis Alfredo García Martínez, said that this project began approximately six months ago, always with the intention to propose spaces for the criticism of social problems. Therefore, he thanked the university authorities, professors and partners, the joint support and effort to concrete the formation of the team.

He explained that even when this is a university project, the objective is to open it for society so it constitutes a platform for the exposition and discussion of ideas about the most relevant problems in public life.

During the ceremony, which took place in the Hall of Acts from DDPG, there was also the handing of awards to supporters and trainers of EDUG, Lic. Diego Eloy Constantino Hernández and M. Catalina Pérez Razo.

At the event were also present, the Attorney General from UG, M. Mauricio Alejandro Murillo de la Rosa; Academic Secretary from DDPG, M. José Cervantes Herrera; the President's Councilman from the "Instituto Electoral del Estado de Guanajuato" (IEEG), M. Mauricio Guzmán Yáñex; Director of the Department of Law, Dr. Eduardo Pérez Alonso, among other members from the university community.
