
Guanajuato, Gto., April 25, 2016.- The sixth edition of the European Film Festival in Guanajuato (GUCE for its acronym in Spanish) organized by the University of Guanajuato through their Direction of Cultural Extension, will begin today April 25th, reason why the city of Guanajuato is ready to receive a sample of the best of the European cinematographic creation.
This time, the honor guest country is Czech Republic, so the spectators will enjoy a very special selection of Czech movies, in addition of going to conferences and workshops on the development of the seventh art in such a country.
In a press conference at the Mesón de San Antonio, the director of the tourism office from Czech Republic for Mexico and Latin America, Petr Lutter, mentioned that is a great distinction for Czech Republic to be able to participate as a guest country in the GUCE.
He emphasized that thanks to this, the union between Mexico and Europe strengthens since the movies can link both countries and in that way establishes bonds, promotes tourism and made people interest to know more about the history and culture for both Mexico and Czech Republic.
Petr Lutter highlighted that this is the first time the Czech Republic comes to Guanajuato, which, represents a great satisfaction since it can potentiate the union and generate strategies to diffuse the work of the seventh art.
On his part, the General Director of Municipal Tourism of Guanajuato, Lic. Salvador Alejandro Jaime Arroyo, indicated that the city is grateful with the contact they are creating with the Czech Republic, he remarked that his direction had been working for six years with this festival from the University of Guanajuato and invited the public to approach the program and go to the screening of diverse movies.
The filmmaker, art curator and Director of GUCE, Eliseo de Pablos, highlighted that such as the city of Guanajuato, the Czech Republic is a very important country as touristic destiny, and highlighted that the cinema is a factor which can increase tourism in both places.
He reiterated that GUCE offers realizations of European films, which have constituted great hits of critique and public, which, haven been awarded for the respective movie academies in their country and that represent relevant examples of the cinematographic reality about the European nations.
It is important to mention that the sixth edition of GUCE ends next April 30th and will have as venue the stairway of the University of Guanajuato, the "Teatro Principal", the General Auditorium, the Auditorium "Euquerio Guerrero", the "Mesón de San Antonio", Plaza "Juarez", the cinema at High School Guanajuato, the auditorium "Maria Elena Morales" from the Department of Languages, the auditorium "Ernesto Scheffler" located in the Ex-Convent from Valenciana, the movie clubs from the university campuses and high school.
