Guanajuato, Gto., April 26, 2016.- The "Teatro Principal" was the stage for the screening of the movie "Phoenix", which inaugurated the sixth edition of the European Film Festival in Guanajuato (GUCE for its acronym in Spanish) organized by the University of Guanajuato (UG) through their Direction of Cultural Extension.

This film has obtained awards such as the prize "FIPRESCI" in the San Sebastian Festival 2014 and was one of the special projections during the Toronto festival 2014.

The public knew the story about a singer, betrayed and sent to a concentration camp, who returns with a disfigured face to a decimated postwar Berlin. After the intent to restore her aspect, she starts looking for her husband, a pianist. But the re-encounter is not what she expected.

It is worth remembering that the guest country of honor is the Czech Republic and the spectators will enjoy a special selection of Czech cinema, besides attending conferences and workshops about the development of the seventh art in such country.

To inaugurate the conferences, were the editor, journalist and writer Mónica Maristain, together with a graduate from UNAM, from the "Facultad de Estudios Superiores Aragón", Sarai Campech, who gave a talk about "Kolya" from Jan Jan Svěrák and the charming transformation of childhood, compared to "About a boy" of Nick Hornby.

Next conferences will occur on Wednesday 27 at 19:00 in the "Salón Fumador" of Teatro Juárez, with the topic "Experts table: In the lens of Agnieszka Holland, challenges of the films in both shores" where Agnieszka Holland, Jaroslav Žváček, José Antonio Valdés Peña and Eliseo de Pablos (Poland, Czech Republic, Mexico and Spain) will participate.

In addition, Thursday 28 in the Forum "Inundiación" located in the street Constancia No. 9, at 17:00 hrs, the journalist Eduardo Limón, the writer and editor of digital contents and prints Julia Santibañez, will give a conference with the name "Czech Republic, the experience of the Prague's Spring and tour through their narrative and poetry".
