Guanajuato, Gto., April 29, 2016. The University of Guanajuato (UG) presented the Institutional Program of Gender Equity (PIIG for its acronym in Spanish) 2019-2019, document, which will orient the efforts of the House of Studies in the construction of a respectful culture of human rights, both inside and outside the university's enclosures.
Such document represents a collective effort, since the draft elaborated by the Committee of Equality and Gender of UG sum more than 400 observations, critiques and proposals of members from the university community, representatives of the civil-society organizations, political actors, representatives of the public powers, and in general, citizens who with their contribution, enriched the PIIG's draft.
The General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG) and President of the Committee of Equality and Gender, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, points out that the document together with the program "is a detonator and a promoter for the construction of spaces for equity," but clearing that "not a mean itself, but a mean to achieve equality."
Likewise, expressed his conviction that in the University of Guanajuato are the necessary and enough conditions –academic, normative, and above all of attitude and will—to begin a new stage in the consideration of women, their rights and expectations, so it becomes an invitation to work together in that sense.
PIIG articulates in six fundamental axis aimed to generate diagnosis, strategies and incident policies in gender equality, the instrumentation of affirmative actions and the mainstreaming of the gender perspective, all that with the finality to achieve an inclusive University, and even more, a more just society.
The rector axis: "Instruments, structures and processes," "Culture of equality and gender," "Formation," "Institutional liaison and collaboration," "Information and institutional diagnosis," and "Studies and academic collaboration," with their respective lines of action and strategies, articulate an integral program, but not closed nor concluded.
The fulfillment level for the Institutional Program of Gender Equity will be evaluated in 2019, although, since now, they foresee the demand proposing new challenges, according to the needs of a plural and changing society.
