Guanajuato, Gto., May 2, 2016.- With the chant Go Bees! Go UG! the University of Guanajuato (UG) with 56 athletes in 10 disciplines reaches the last stage of the Universiada Nacional 2016, competition to occur on May 2 to 15 in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The Maximum house of studies maintains as the institution from the state of Guanajuato with greater quantity of disciplines and qualified athletes to the national stage, followed only by the "Universidad Lasalle Bajio" with four disciplines and 29 athletes.

The ten disciplines where UG Bees will participate are: chess, athletics, soccer association, wall soccer, aerobic gymnastics, weightlifting, judo, karate, tae kwon do and archery.

The teams from the University of Guanajuato will seek to get the top places and judo is the first activity for this Monday May 2 and Tuesday May 3 where UG Bees will seek to place in the first positions; for Wednesday May 4, the event will be chess.

The Direction of Student Development through the head of the Coordination of Physical Culture and Sports, Lic. José Eduardo Pacheco Retana recognized the perseverance and tenacity of the 160 UG athletes during the regional stage, same qualities that show in the national stage.

He highlighted that results as 1st place at the soccer association from the female team, 1st place in wall soccer from the male team (discipline that had no presence in national stages), 1st place of chess of the male branch, as well as several 1st places in karate and athletics.

The regional stage occurred from April 18 to 24 in the "Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí", as main host, and in collaboration with the "Autonomous University of Aguascalientes" and Querétaro.

Lic. José Eduardo Pacheco Retana reaffirmed the commitment of the work team from the Coordination of Physical Culture and Sports before the university athletes, who have the institution's total support.
