*The General Rector inaugurated the "Festival Gastronómico y Artesanal “Saborea Salvatierra

Guanajuato, Gto., May 1, 2016. With the conviction that the University of Guanajuato (UG) must work together with society to boost projects that favor the regional development, the General Rector of the House of Studies, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, attended the 3rd Artisan and Gastronomy Festival "Saborea Salvatierra", where he was responsible for the opening message.

The event organized by the Association "Nueva Imagen de Salvatierra," with support from the government to the state of Guanajuato, has the objective to project gastronomy, culture and traditions in Salvatierra, to contribute and position the city as a tour destiny.

In the protocol act, Dr. Guerrero Agripino, emphasized the enormous commitment the University of Guanajuato has with the regional development, and assured that they are working to strengthen the presence of the Institution in Salvatierra.

Currently, UG has a presence on the city through a High School and Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, whose academic offer could be widened with programs such as the Tourism Resource Management, given the potential the region has, revealed the General Rector.

At the ceremony, the Municipal President of Salvatierra, Dr. J. Herlindo Velázquez Fernández, highlighted the beauty of city, that has more than 300 buildings catalogued the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), which gives an idea of the historical richness it holds.

In the same sense, both the local deputy and president of the Commission of Tourism in the Congress, Lic. Lorenzo Chávez Salazar as the Director of Touristic Products, Lic. Rogeiio Martínez Caballero, who went representing the secretary of tourism of the state, Dr. Fernando Olivera Rocha, highlighted the potential Salvatierra has, hence, they offered their support for events like this one, that allow to know the gastronomy and variety of cultural expression that develop in place.

The gastronomic show made in the historical Ex-hacienda San José del Carmen, offered a space in the traditional kitchen, but was also the scenario of photographic expos, charreria, music and dance, among other activities.

It had the presence of the Rector of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, Dr. Ma. Guadalupe Ojeda Vargas; the President of the Association N"nueva Imagen de Salvatierra", Alejandra Marcela Ramírez Albarrán, Deputy J. Jesús Oviedo, municipal authorities, members of the university community and society.
