
Guanajuato, Gto., May 4, 2016.- The members in the master's degree in Applied Linguistics to English Teaching of the University of Guanajuato (UG) organized the third Permanent Seminar of Applied Linguistics.
This time, as guests they had, Dr. Kumaravadivelu, from San José State University, and Lía Kamhi-Stein, from California State University, renowned researchers in this topic.
Dr. Kumaravadivelu has published on methodology of teaching of languages, speech analysis on the classroom, culture of learning and critic pedagogy; besides is an author of the Language Teacher Education for a Global Society (2011), Cultural Globalization and Language Education (2008), Understanding Language Teaching: From Method to Postmethod (2006), and Beyond Methods: Macro strategies for Language Teaching (2003).
Dr. Lía Kamhi-Stein has stood-out in the areas of academic literacy, native and non-native professionals of English, and the integration of the technology in the classroom.
She is also an author of Narrating their lives: Examining English Language Teacher's Professional Identities within the Classroom (2013); Learning and Teaching from Experience: Perspectives of Nonnative English-Speaking Professionals (2004); and found in the press English Language Teaching in South America: Policy, Preparation, and Practices.
Both speakers emphasized the importance of getting close to the postgraduate students to applied research to have an impact in this currently demanding world as a culture of action.
In this event also participated students from the "Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla", from the "Universidad Veracruzana" and the host postgraduate, with the finality to receive feedback from guest professors.
It is worth mentioning that this event is made semiannually, and each edition invites renowned speakers with the objective to have a closer interaction with the postgraduate students, offering plenaries, workshops and round tables.
