Guanajuato, Gto., a 5 de abril de 2016.- It was installed in the Department of Mine, Metallurgy and Geology Engineering of the Division of Engineering of Campus Guanajuato, the Geoscientific System Geoinfomex/Teknol, which will allow students and faculty to make research and thesis projects, and even the possibility to lend services to the private sector and government.

During a ceremony led by the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández and M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development, representing the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino; presented the minor parts of the systems, whose installation concreted thanks to the student negotiation and the support of university authorities and scholars.

M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development, reminded that a few months ago in the direction the leads, presented the progress of the final product, after a two-year process, with the installation of the screen and software that faculty and students will be able to use. For the University of Guanajuato, he said, it is important to back these initiatives from students so they have a successful finish.

On his part, Dr. Javier Corona Fernández, Rector of Campus Guanajuato, observed that this student initiative and the support they had from the Director of the Division as well as the Director of the Department and faculty to channel creativity and initiatives of youth, are really a very significant work.

He reminded that just last week, were set in march in the venue San Matías, the Laboratories of Research and Characterization of Minerals and Materials (LICAMM), and know having the Geoscientific systems, reinforces the earth as a subject of research with infinite possibilities and values.

"The initiatives of the students will have in the Campus' Rectory, all the support to continue this work to channel their interests in research and thesis", held Dr. Corona Fernández, who vowed for this tool to be one of the doors to the world of research, "that it is one the most gratifying activities, since it encourages not only the professional development but personal."

Finally, the student Abel López Almanza, president of the organized group "Consejo de Ciencias de la Tierra (CODECIT)", commented that after more than two years of effort, they could finally present this team, that had the opportunity to use for consult in January 2014 in the regional offices of the Mexican Geological Service, in Chihuahua and thanks for their great informative collection of more than 70 years of research, its easiness, great power and great technological advancement it represent, attracted his attention.

They began to negotiate since then, he said, not to be installed in some Regional office of the Geological Service, but in the Department of Engineering and Mines, Metallurgy and Geology to enrich their classes and research.

In the ceremony of presentation were also present Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, Director of the Division of Engineering; M. Federico Voguel González, Director of the Department of Engineering of Mines, Metallurgy and Geology and M. Manuel Quezada Aguilera, scholar from such department, who later gave a technical explanation of what GeoInfomex is.

Geoinfomex

It is the system of consultation from the Mexican Geological Service which allows to know the combined geoscientific information with the current mining property, which allows the users to make decisions saving time and resources.

It is a data bank which gathers geologic-mining information of Mexico (mining property, geology, geochemistry, mining deposits, etc.) organized in different application of consult (information of mines, cartography, mining concessions, protected natural areas, etc.).

It is a powerful tool that allows the user to obtain on line, in real time and in the same place, information, simplifying the strategic planning of exploration in any part of the national territory.

They can be consulted through a multi-touch 65" screen: concessioned and in process of concession mining lots, geophysical, geomagnetic and geochemistry with a 32 element trace charts, mineral deposits, tectonic, earthquakes, active and inactive volcanos, radiometric data, aquifers, agrarian settlements, digital thesis, density maps among others. The equipment was bought with an economic support from UG for $205,000 MXN.
