León, Gto., May 10, 2016.- Dr. Carol Baldwin, renowned researcher from the State University of Arizona, spoke to the University of Guanajuato Campus León with the conference: "Resultados de aprendizaje sobre educación para el sueño" (Results of learning on education of sleep), derived from the work done in the Diploma of Therapeutic Education in Diabetes taught in the same Campus.

The set of this analysis describes the qualitative results of a sleep session, she mentioned that the family "Ramírez" was diagnosed to develop a study of life, as well as an analysis about the pre and post knowledge of the Diploma, where they made clear the idea to sleep during the day to compensate the lack of sleep at night is wrong.

She affirmed that the need of a healthy sleep can affect mood, energy, efficiency and ability to handle stress, obesity, diabetes, depression, poor cognitive function, mobility, disability, mortality among other health problems. Besides, sleep disorders are risk factors for obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and depression.

Finally, Dr. Baldwin commented that a person can withstand 11 days without a diet, 11 without exercise, but never 11 days without sleeping.

Dr. Baldwin is Joint Director of the Center of Collaboration for the "Avance de las Políticas de Investigación en Salud de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud" World Health Organization, in the center of World Health, in the State University of Arizona.

On her part, student Mariana Sarahí Chávez Grimaldo, of the fourth semester of the Nursing program, commented that the conference was very interesting. "It helped me a lot as a person, since we need to take care of our body, without knowing we only emphasize on nourishment, leaving aside rest for work, homework, among other thing and actually with this conference, I realize that resting is the center to practice every day activities".

In the event, they had the assistance of M. Cipriana Caudillo Cisneros, Academic Secretary of the Division of Health Sciences, and Dr. Sergio Márquez Gamiño; professor-researcher of the Division of Health Sciences and invaluable collaborator of the Diploma in Therapeutic Education in Diabetes.
