
Guanajuato, Gto., May 9, 2016.- With the purpose to commemorate the 100 years of Chemistry in Mexico, the State Council for the celebrations of the "100 years of Chemistry in Guanajuato" took an oath in the University of Guanajuato (UG), which will host the event.
UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino welcomed the members of the Council and recognized that Chemistry has been a fundamental part of the history of the maximum house of studies, since it has become an academic strength whose scientific and social presence have been of great transcendence for the society.
Besides the conformation of a State Council and an Organizing Committee, it was proposed, the realization of academic and cultural events throughout the school cycle, as well as the hand in of special recognitions, among other activities.
The formal celebration of the economic and social development of Chemistry in the state will be inaugurated on December 1st and the activities will continue on December 2, furthermore, there will be events from August to December of the present year.
The Senator of the Republic, M. Juan Carlos Romero Hicks, who was rector of UG reminded the graduates of the same institutions, who dedicated their professional life to science and highlighted the importance of the contributions and the work done by chemists in benefit of the country.
The council is integrated by the following institutions: Universidad de Guanajuato, el Senado de la República Mexicana; Comisión de Educación, Secretaría de Educación Básica & Media Superior; UNAM, Facultad de Química & ENES Unidad León; Secretaría de Innovación, Ciencia & Educación Superior; Instituto Politécnico Nacional; Instituto Tecnológico de Celaya.
Also will be part of: Universidad Tecnológica de León; Universidad Politécnica de Guanajuato; Universidad De la Salle; Sociedad Química de México; Colegio Nacional de Ingenieros Químicos y Químicos; Universidad Pedagógica Nacional; ANUIES; Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico Sustentable; Representación de la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias; Representación del Sector Industrial; Representación del Sector Social; y el Congreso del Estado.
