
Celaya, Gto., May 17, 2016.- Due to the lack of specialists in Pediatric Nursing within the health sector, there was a workshop called "Catheter clinic", which was given by the M. Teresita Morales Álvarez, in which professionals from nursing coming from several cities in the region participated.
The course that was given through the Unit of University Extension of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra had the attendance of more than 30 female and male nurses that currently work in hospitals. As speakers participated Claudia Silva, Laura Martínez, Karla Olvera and David Martínez, who along two days exposed their knowledge in the matter of catheters.
"The main objective was to update the handling of catheters in the pediatric level, the handling of each one has a particularity and us, this time, give a practical guide so the assistants can acquire the knowledge and also have the ability to present in their clinical areas and handle the entire process, installation and removal of catheters", expressed the specialist in pediatric nursing, M. Morales Álvarez.
Due that the topic of catheters requires a deep knowledge of anatomy and physiology had the theoretical ground, they covered updates information on such devices and debated on the legislation in sanitary matter nationally and internationally.
The participants in the course come from community hospitals such as San Diego de la Unón, Apaseo el Alto, San José de Querétaro, San Miguel de Allende, Hospital infantile Oncológico Teletón and Hospital Materno Infantil from Celaya.
To conclude, the Coordinator of Specialties, M. Clara Teresita Morales Álvarez, explained that they are already working in the academic restructure of the programs of Specialty in Pediatrics and specialty in Medical Surgery Nursing.
