Salvatierra, Gto., a 17 de mayo de 2016.- In the venue Mayorazgo from Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, there was a conference titled "Migration and infantile work" given by Dr. Emma Zapata and M. Rosario Ayala, both from the College of Postgraduates of Campus Montecillo in the state of Mexico.

In the University of Guanajuato, the researchers explained the migrations conditions from where the immigrants from Guatemala go through to work in Soconusco, located in Chiapas, who carry with themselves their family and children, and they are exposed at very early ages to hard work. They explained how, from the institutional perspective, they report as if there weren't infantile exploitation; however, the reality in the field is another one, since the infants, since they're three years old are involved in grain collecting.

Among the attendees, there were students from the Regional Development, Agro-industrial and Nursing degrees, who questioned the experts on the motive of their research, who had the support of the Secretary of Social Development and the National Council of Science and Technology.

The speakers explained that their main objective was to detect the lack of health and on the run, they found signs of psychological violence, reflected in a lack of opportunities in school, housing, and economic growth opportunity.

Dr. Zapata pointed out that "when presenting the results, these were not seen by the instances as we expected" since the people involved are not Mexican and in Guatemala, at this moment, the political agenda has another business. Nevertheless, reminded that "Guatemala was part of Chiapas; therefore, cultural bonds and Mexican blood join us", so they expect to work in strategies to help families and children in a state of vulnerability.

This conference at UG was organized as part of the activities of the Academic Body "Género y politicas públicas para el desarrollo social y humano", led by Dr. Benito Rodríguez, who thanked the speakers for giving the college students a panorama of what happens in the south border.

At the same time, the students actively participated with questions and reflections about the situation lived in Soconusco, but also in the state of Guanajuato, where they considered that the infantile work also exists, especially in the rural communities.
