Guanajuato, Gto., May 18, 2016.- With the motive to celebrate the International Day of Museums. the University of Guanajuato (UG) participated in the Dialogue Table "The Museum today, challenges and opportunities from an academic context."

The themed axis of the celebrations in this day are the Museums and Cultural Landscapes, because they are a topic in the middle of the international debate from diverse organisms that occupy the natural and cultural heritage.

The International Day of Museums was established in 1977 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) with the objective to sensitize the public on the role of these in the development of society, and currently has reached the participation of more than 35,000 museums in 145 countries.

The Coordinator of Knowledge's Extension from UG, Lic. Miguel Ángel Mata Castro highlighted that UG has a frim compromise with this world initiative since the debate topic highlights the responsibility with the active protection of cultural and natural heritage, in addition of the challenge museums have today as a formative mean.

He invited the university community to go to the museums the Maximum House of Studies offers, since they are an important part approach people to the human and cultural ambience, which is a mean to increase the environment's knowledge.

At the Dialogue table participated the professors and researchers from the Department of Cultural Studies of the Division of Social Sciences and Human Studies from Campus Leon of UG, Dr. Vanessa Freitag, Dr. José de Jesús Cordero Dominguez, M. Carlota Meneses; the coordinator of "Mi Museo" from the "Universidad de La Salle Bajío", Dr. Mary Carmen Aranda Muñiz; and the Chief of Museographic and Montage from the Museum of Art and History of Guanajuato, Israel de Jesús Arenas Avalos.
