Guanajuato, Gto., May 18, 2016.- With the presentation of more than 100 research works of students and professors in Food Engineering within the country, began the "III International Congress on Innovation and Trends of Food Processing" and the "XVIII National Congress of Food Science and Technology 2016," to develop in the capital of the state.

From May 18 to May 20, experts in the branch from institutions of Argentina, Canada, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico and a company from Sweden and Denmark, they'll dictate 11 conferences to more than 300 attendees.

The congress was inaugurated by Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro, Director of Liaison, representing the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, who highlighted the importance of innovation in the food sector.

In May 2016, the National Congress of Food Science and Technology turned 18 years old and began a new stage by becoming an international event, opening possibilities of exchange with Universities such as Penn State, Texas A&M, Pennsylvania, Washington, among others.

By summon of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca from UG and the "Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León", the participating students presented their research works as results from their theses. This exchange of scientific ideas motivates students to continue studying with postgraduates, and so they can relate with ex-students that currently work in the industry and, in this way, they can easily integrate into the productive sector.

The Congress allows the update and links of professors and students from the Division of Life Sciences (DICIVA) from the Food Engineering degree; educative program taught since 1982 in the venue Irapuato from UG, and since then, 26 generations have emerged, from which more than 70% have completed their degree.

Given the growth and importance of this event, other universities have requested to host the Congress, such as the "Universidad de Juárez del Estado de Durango", the "Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas" and the "Universidad de Colima". The past edition, was held in the "Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León."

At the event were present authorities and representatives from UG, also from other higher-education institutions, as well as members of the organisms involved in the development of science and innovation.
